He's fine agreeing to share things he doesn't have, because he doesn't have to follow through! But if he says yes about the chickens, now he has no choice. The joke is that communists have pie in the sky ideals about equality, but in practice people look out for themselves.

@@MrStebe120 you need different levels of things to survive, two chickens is necessary if youre not wealthy and giving away one of them is going to harm you just as much as giving it to someone else benefits them. on the other hand something like a second car or second house doesnt have a purpose for a single person, you only truly need one of those. thats what im defining as surplus, not whatever the government would decide.
